"Your incompetence is most taxing."

Back in August, I made an offhand smart-ass comment about the movie Underworld. I am pleased to finally be able to report that, had I actually seen the movie at the time, I would have been too embarrassed to mention it where others could see.

You see, I watched it tonight, and it was the most godawful mish-mash of a movie I've seen in a long time. There was some mood from the Matrix, a little dash of the pseudo-science from Blade, and a healthy dose of the White Wolf product line. Combine this with horrendous dialogue, really bad acting, and a plot that I was hard put to make any sense of, and you have one of my personal nominees for the worst movie of 2003.

Oh. My. Goodness.

It didn't cost me a cent, and still, I'm contemplating sending a letter to the studio demanding that they compensate me for the 2 hours I wasted watching it. Wow. Don't take my word for it, though. Here's the final sentence from the Onion's AV Club's review:

Not since Battlefield Earth pitted overacting, nine-foot-tall Psychlos against puny man-animals has there been an interspecies match-up this perversely uninteresting.

Amen.
